Lokesh Nagineni Wins State Spelling Bee
On Saturday, March 22, Lokesh Nagineni - an 8th grader at Lamar- won the state spelling bee by correctly spelling mastoiditis โ€” an infection of the skull behind the ear โ€” in the 14th round to win the regional competition. He will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May. Congratulations Lokesh, and Good Luck on your upcoming trip to Washington DC.
Lamar's 8th Grade ELA Classes Skype With Author
The 8th grade ELA classes at Lamar skyped with Claire Legrand, author of The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls. During the skyping session, students were able to ask Ms. Legrand questions regarding her writing style, her writing process, and her writing history. Hearing first-hand information from a current author made a huge impact on their writing knowledge.
